Under the Oculi proposes a horticultural center along Sunset Boulevard that reframes monumentality through accessible green infrastructure in a park-poor urban corridor. Grounded in environmental justice analysis, the project responds to the severe lack of nearby open space by embedding landscape, circulation, and social programs into a continuous architectural surface. A series of oculi organize the building into light-filled courtyards that encourage informal gathering and human–plant coexistence. Monumentality is redefined as a collective, ecological presence integrated into everyday urban life.
